We are pleased to announce that the course will re-open on 16 May 2020. Before I set out the measures which we need to observe I would like to thank the Green staff for their efforts to get the course into a playable condition at such short notice. James Townsend will be in work from Friday 15 May 2020 and will be available to take bookings. He will maintain a booking sheet and has requested that you call the Club number in the first instance (01694 722281) and if necessary his mobile number (07973 762510)
The course will be open for 18 holes to Members and then visitors from 1.30pm on Sunday 17th May.
We must all observe the 2 metre social distancing rule.
This is a new experience for all of us
Who can play The following can play: Any member who has paid their annual subscription. Individuals playing golf on their own. Two balls from the same household (if there are more than 2 in your household please contact James to discuss if this is possible). Two balls comprising of individuals from different households. At the moment we are only accepting bookings from Members. This will be reviewed in the coming weeks.
Before the round
James will maintain a booking sheet and you will need to contact him by phone in advance to request a tee time. Bookings can only be made 14 days in advance and please do not block book each day at the same time. Tees can be booked from 0800 to 1700 Monday to Saturday and 0730 to 1700 on Sundays. Bookings will only be accepted for 1 or 2 balls unless the Government relax this restriction. Buggies must be booked at the same time, payment preferably by contactless card and will require sanitising by you after use. Private buggies are allowed. Play will be from the first tee only and at 10 minute intervals.
On arrival and waiting to play.
Please change in the car park to limit Locker room usage. The locker rooms will be open but the Clubhouse will be closed, no bar or catering facilities will be available. Locker rooms will be 1 in, 1 out to comply with social distancing. Car parking should be with a 2 metre separation. Please ensure you take home your clubs etc. to limit locker room usage. Toilets and washrooms will be open but no shower facilities. Please ensure you wash your hands if you use these facilities.
Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your tee time. If you cannot make your tee time please let James know as soon as possible. Let James know that you have arrived. The putting green will be open but limited to 4 players at any one time. Please ensure that you tee off at the exact time so as to adhere to social distancing.
Golf Professional’s shop
There will be a strictly 1 in and 1 out policy to ensure social distancing. Scorecards will be found in the on the wall outside the Shop or in the locker room. Please mark your own card and do not touch anyone else’s. Please adhere to any instructions which James may request.
During the round
Social distancing must be observes at all times. If there is congestion on one tee please observe social distancing. Do not pick up anyone else’s ball even if you find one in the rough. It is suggested by England Golf that you do not look for a lost ball as you may pick up someone else’s. On the first hole there will be no rake for the bunker, please do your best to smooth the sand! Flags will be in place but not to be touched. There is a hole liner to help with ball retrieval.
After the round
Social distancing is still very important after the round and Members are requested to leave as soon as possible after completing their game. Please do not gather in the car park, around the shop or the Clubhouse veranda.
Risk Please note that during the period of the COVID-19 outbreak: You agree that you are entering Church Stretton Golf Club at your own risk and agree to adhere to all restrictions mentioned above and any other instructions you may receive when you arrive. You also accept that if you have: COVID-19 Been in close contact with someone diagnosed with COVID-19,or is suspected of having COVID-19 or is in self-isolation A fever (i.e. 37.5 degrees or above), respiratory symptoms such as sore throat, shortness of breath, cough) You are not permitted to play. Any Member who is observed to breach playing and safety protocols will be asked to leave immediately.
Finally These measures are necessary to make golf a safe environment. Things are evolving and we will keep you up to date with developments. Welcome back Play safe, stay safe.
