Church Stretton Golf Club Captain Celebrates Hole-In-One at Iconic Welsh Course
Church Stretton, Shropshire – August 2025 – Church Stretton Golf Club Captain, Michael Nettleton, achieved a spectacular hole-in-one on the famous 6th hole at Porthmadog Golf Club in Wales – one of the country’s most iconic and challenging par 3s.
The unforgettable moment took place during a family round, making the achievement especially meaningful. The 6th hole at Porthmadog, celebrated for its dramatic coastal setting and demanding tee shot, is renowned across the golfing community – adding to the significance of the feat.
“To achieve a hole-in-one is every golfer’s dream, but to do so during my captaincy year, and with my family there to share it, makes it truly extraordinary,” said Captain Michael Nettleton. “The 6th at Porthmadog is such an iconic hole – I still can’t quite believe it happened.”
Head Pro Mark Pilkington added: “A hole-in-one is always special, but for Michael to achieve it at such a prestigious course and during his year as captain makes it a moment to remember. We couldn’t be more delighted for him.”
The achievement is another highlight in a successful captaincy year for Nettleton, who is also raising funds for Birmingham Children’s Hospital throughout his tenure.
