16th Hole

Description

A short par 4 which is reachable from the tee for many players. But beware of the out of bounds on the right!

Our Professional Advises

The easiest place to approach this green is from short of it. The green can be very quick and any shot from past the green is difficult.

If you do manage to avert your gaze from the views you will find bracken and heather-lined fairways that snake among hills and cavernous valleys, leading to undulating, tricky greens that will ask tough questions of your putting stroke. Church Stretton doesn’t rely on freakish length or huge carries off the tee to give it teeth – the spectacular natural landscape gives it all the bite it needs.

The sandy soil and excellent year-round drainage means the course is a pleasure to play all year round. Many of the golfing Press have also come along to see what all the fuss is about. Todays Golfer, Golf Monthly and others have heaped praise on this “unique gem” and a recent course review described Church Stretton as “a spectacular golfing experience that anyone who loves the game should play.”

But don’t take our word for it – the only way to truly experience all that this unique course has to offer – is to come and play.

Great value for money, the views are incredible! The course is quite short but very hilly, some very challenging holes. I would 100% recommend it.

Having read some of the reviews I was hesitant about playing at Church Stretton GC. It seems to be another case of social media amplifying the opinions of a couple of malcontents (removed from the course for non-payment of green fees) . So my recommendation would be to ignore the hysteria and give it a go. I had a great round, discovered a quirky and challenging course, met very friendly people and a welcoming pro. I thought it well worth paying my green fee!

Absolutely stunning course unlike any other we've played. Very helpful staff and super friendly members made us really welcome. Tees, fairways and greens in excellent condition and the views across the course are stunning. If you're a golfer and come to Church Stretton you would be missing out if you didn't play here. Definitely worth hiring a buggy. Definitely the most memorable course I'll probably ever play, and for all the right reasons.

One of the toughest golf courses I've ever played. The dry conditions added to the challenge as the ball kept rolling back off the inclined fairways. Elevated & blind greens, uneven & undulating fairways made the course one of the most difficult, even in summer. Hydration is essential on the course. The views are fantastic, friendly staff around the course.

A very welcoming golf club with a course that is particularly challenging in the present conditions. Some of the most spectacular views you will see on a golf course. Not the longest but it will test your game. Only slight grumble would be parking. Not much space, particularly if you have an SUV like me. Otherwise, highly recommend

We play here every year, it’s by far the best quirkiest golf club you will play. The course works it way up the side of a hill by church stretton and the views are fantastic. The pro , he is amazing. He always puts guest and members first and makes your trip perfect. Food was amazing and great value.

"A unique golfing experience" - couldn't agree more. Incredible views, course layout was WILD, super challenging for a short course, plays waaay harder than you'd expect. Thoroughly enjoyed it, considering the dry conditions. Very friendly staff.
